Prairie City Seniors: 3.5.08

PRAIRIE CITY – February 27, 2008 was a better day than forecasted as no rain. Marvin, Ottis and Buzz prepared seven tables, knowing a bus load was coming from Monument, and an eighth table was half-prepared just in case it was needed. The Monument bus also had people from Gresham and Long Creek.
This was also the day we could have our blood pressure, pulse, etc. taken, as Muffet Ricco came and had four gals assisting and learning. The March health check will be on the 19th, the third Wednesday, not the last.
The flag salute was led by Buzz Harris, who had delivered three meals earlier, but two meals were picked up later. The blessing was given by Ben Luethe Jr. We had a moment of silence for Jim Magee, who passed away last Thursday.
Eula had 56 sign in to eat the meal of chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, salad, rolls, ice cream and cake – chocolate for all the but birthday table, which had angel food.
Our servers were Helen Emmel, Helen Cardwell, Vivian Rookstool and Pam Howard.
Certificate winners were Leona Fritts, Prairie Drug and Hardware; Charles Hyder, at the birthday table, Huffman’s; and Fred Stoltz, Main Street Hair Company in John Day.
Lorna Askew and Patty Jones were back on duty to bring Ruth Johns, Vern Randall, LaVerne Matteson, Nestle Davis and Daphne Andrews from the nursing home.
For those who read to see if Cleo Dunten is around, she came today. Seems Marvin and Ottis did all the dining area cleaning. Leona Fritts pre-washed the silverware.
