DAYVILLE – A man and his son, 10, were uninjured in a truck accident at the junction of Highway 26 and Highway 19, west of Dayville, last week.
Oregon State Police said the accident occurred about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5.
Responding to the scene, Sgt. Gordon Larson found a 2007 U-Haul cargo truck rolled onto its passenger side.
Larson said the accident occured when the westbound truck missed a curve and the driver overcorrected, causing the truck to roll onto its side. The driver told police he was tired from a lack of sleep the night before.
The driver, Dereck A. Kearns of Prineville was cited for driving while suspended and careless driving.
Oregon Department of Transportation crews, Grant County Sheriff’s deputies and a Dayville ambulance also responded to the scene. Both Kearns and his son were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and neither was injured.
