JOHN DAY – The Malheur National Forest is selling four residential houses and one guard station, announced Stan Benes, Forest supervisor.
The properties include four houses in Prairie City and a guard station on 2.8 acres northeast of Burns, which will be sold through a competitive online auction.
The “Invitation for Bids” information will be available March 17. To see sample property sales, bidding and sale terms, log on to (www.auctionrp.com). Additional information on these houses can be found at www.fs.fed.us/r6/malheur, which will be updated on a regular basis.
Most of the proceeds of these sales will be retained by the Malheur National Forest to address other facility maintenance needs, said Benes.
The Forest Service Facility Realignment and Enhancement Act of 2005 gives the Secretary of Agriculture the authority to sell and exchange administrative sites that are determined to be no longer needed for National Forest System purposes.
