Obituaries: Terry Sowa

Terry Sowa, 65, of Canyon City, died March 11, 2008 in Portland. He was born March 30, 1942 to Lawrence and Della Sowa in Sileverton and graduated from Molalla High School. He married Virginia Olsen on May 11, 1963.
He served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army. A mechanic for most of his life, he worked for Doug’s Auto Repair in John Day, as auto service manager.
Active in Grant County communities, he was a member of the Lions Club for over 20 years and also involved with the American Legion and the Oregon Hunters Association.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Olsen; daughter, Jennifer (Joey) Moretz; sisters, Anna Phillips, Barbara Heinz, Carolyn Jones, Jeannie Sowa, Marie Hackett, Catherine Smith, and Laurel Carter; brothers, Larry, Tim and Mitch; one grandson, Chase; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sowa was preceded in death by his son, Troy in 1987.
A Celebration of the Eucharist was held at St. James Catholic Church in Molalla on March 15. A Commital Service was held at Canyon City Cemetery on March 17.
