JOHN DAY – My apology for missing the news article last week; it just takes much longer to celebrate a birthday.
However, want to thank the Lutheran Church members for serving Monday’s meal. Also the Mt. Vernon Grange for serving Thursday’s meal of corned beef and cabbage, and Driskill Memorial Chapel and Kings Discount Store for the March birthday cake. Mary McKern was remembered on her 88th, and Rita West on her birthday. Borth ladies are guests at Denice and Jack Seebart’s Golden Heritage Home.
On March 17, Bible Way Church served mac and cheese. Vera Hensley led the flag salute and Pastor Dunn asked the blessing. Len’s certificate was won by Anna Alegria.
The St. Elizabeth Catholic Church fish fry was a success and the free meals donated to the senior couples were appreciated.
Easter dinner of ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, veggie salad, more of the delicious hot rolls. The dessert was nice large delicious creme puffs, with two flavors of filling, vanilla and chocolate. The entree was furnished by Grant Western Lumber Company. Members of United Methodist Church served the meal.
Pete Baucumm led the flag salute and Pastor Benson asked the blessing. Marge Harris will shop at Chester’s with her certificate and Jim Thomason will receive a free meal from the Site Council.
Thank you to each and every one who, in any way, serve the Senior Center with donations of time and senior meal entrees.
Among the many things money won’t buy, is what it used to.
