PRAIRIE CITY – March 19, 2008 was rainy on and off. Around 10:30 this morning, I learned it was snowing in La Grande. Same four men prepared six tables but only 39 came to eat our meal of rolls, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, cooked carrots, green salad and yellow cake with green decors sprinkled over the frosting. Four meals were delivered.
Flag salute was led by Buzz Harris. Ben Luethe Jr. gave the blessing. Louise La Baugh was the winner of the Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate, while GeorgeAnne Williams won the Chuck’s Little Diner’s certificate. Good thing she attended today.
Our servers were Barbara Bass, Beverly Curtis and Pat Binyon, who are workers like beavers – busy, busy and can chatter at the same time.
Lorna Askew and Kathleen DuBuc brought from the nursing home, Carl and Ruth Johns, Elva Lloyd, Ethel McFadden (first time), LaVerne Matteson and Stacey McKinney.
When I looked out in the dining area, everyone was just sitting on the benches, but I’m sure Jim, Ottis and Marvin did their jobs – volunteering.
Next Wednesday is our last one of the month and I heard once we are to have ham instead of chicken as Easter is coming up March 23. If no place else to go to, attend the churches’ Easter service in the old gym, starting at 10:30 a.m.
