JOHN DAY – On Monday, April 7, Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary served the meal. Bert Kruse asked the blessing and Bob McCauley led the flag salute.
Sign up for the defensive driving course, scheduled for April 29 and 30. Classes will be held at the senior center and conducted by Chuck Mills. Call 575-1825 to make a reservation. A $10 fee will be charged.
On May 3, the Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting will be held in Baker City. The People Mover will be available. Make reservations early, as space is limited.
Isa Larkin received the certificate from Len’s. Great to have Cindy back in the kitchen and feeling well. Also, Sharon for a return visit.
Thursday’s entree was furnished by Scotta Callister and Les Zaitz. Servers were members of Mt. Vernon Grange. Ivan Porfily asked the blessing.
The entree was barbecued chicken, buttered carrots, potato salad and hot rolls. A very beautifully decorated birthday cake was donated by Driskill Memorial Chapel and King’s Discount Store. The cake was also very good, and chocolate, so it was very healthy!
Golden Heritage honored Linda Stoltz with a flower bouquet on her birthday. Linda is an ultimate volunteer. Also honored was Bonnie Lake.
The Chester’s Thriftway certificate was awarded to Thelma Asher and the free meal to Paul Huskey. Tulip bouquets were won by Ester Hanson and Harvey Sweek.
Monument seniors were bused over by way of Long Creek. It’s always great to see folks from the north end of the county.
Les Zaitz, it is time for another of your “country living adventures” in the Eagle!
On April 17 roast beef will be served, fish on Monday April 21 and Salisbury steak on the April 24.
It’s easier to get forgiveness than permission.
