Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Marsha Legg, Redmond, was cited for violation of the speed law (55/35 zone) and fined $110.
? Ivan Lattymer, Prairie City, received several citations. For driving while suspended, he was fined $421; driving uninsured, fined $237; and for failure to renew, fined $94. For failing to appear, his driver’s license was suspended and he was fined $25 for each citation.
? Shane Holden, Baker City, was cited for violation of the basic rule (75/55 zone) for a fine of $145 and for open container of alcohol for a fine of $242. For failing to appear, his driver’s license was suspended and he was fined $25 for each citation.
? Ricky Padalik, Burns, was cited for violation of the basic rule (76/55 zone) and fined $145.
? Jessi McKnight, Redmond, was cited for violation of the speed law (68/35 zone) and fined $325.
? Lee Bennett, Bend, was cited for failure to renew registration and fined $97.
? Todd Parmelee, Kimberly, was cited for driving while suspended and fined $421. His driver’s license was suspended for a fine of $25.
? Brieanna John, John Day, was cited for not having a driver’s license and fined $85.
? Rosellyn John, John Day, was cited for unlawful permit operation and fined $185.
? Antony Kampen, Rijswijk, Poland, was cited for violation of the speed law (55/35 zone) and fined $110.
? Charles Bowden, John Day, was cited for violation of the speed law (73/55 zone) and fined $145.
? Jacob Feener, Lincolnville, Maine, was cited for endangering a passenger and fined $73.
? Seth Thisell, Bend, was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and failure to pay fines.
? Pereira Nunes, Portland, was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and failure to pay fines.
? Cody Skaggs, Helena, Mont., was cited for having a suspended driver’s license and failure to pay fines.
? Raymond Allen Blair, Canby, was convicted of disorderly conduct in the second degree and fined $250.
? James Allen Hieb, Beaver Creek, was convicted of disorderly conduct in the second degree and fined $250.
Small Claims? Ray Klein Inc. v. Linda Brown. Money judgment was awarded to Ray Klein Inc. in the amount of $239.04.
? Jamie Anderson v. Doug’s Motor Vehicle Repair. The claim was dismissed without prejudice.
Circuit CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Edward W. Abel, 64, was convicted of one count of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and fined $596. On a second count of unlawful possession of a firearm, he was placed on bench probation for 12 months, jailed for two days and fined $497. Two other counts for felony possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a controlled substance were dismissed.
? Tye R. Authier, 43, was convicted of one count of criminal nonsupport. He was sentenced to supervised probation for 24 months, 10 days in jail, and fined $173 in court fines, costs and assessments. Three other counts of criminal nonsupport were dismissed.
Oregon State Police? Oregon State Police responded to Strawberry Mountain Apartments in Prairie City, to assist Grant County Sheriff with a noise complaint at 10:25 p.m. on May 8. Officers found the male and female occupants of the apartment to be intoxicated, but there was no domestic disturbance occurring and they were warned for excessive noise.
The OSP officer then found a group of two males and two females in the front of the apartment complex who matched the description of the original complaint. One of the men, later identified as Johnathan J. Rose, 21 of Prairie City, continued walking toward the apartment door, and went inside, despite the OSP officer calling out for him to stop. After 30 minutes of negotiation, he finally came out. Rose, who is on probation, was cited for eluding a police officer, in lieu of custody. A 20-year-old in the group was cited for minor in possession of alcohol.
? OSP stopped a vehicle at State Route 402 and Courtrock Road at 6:50 p.m. on May 10, after observing that the driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt. The officer reported that the driver appeared to reach for or attempt to conceal something. After a search and investigation, John P. Osburn, 26, of Monument was cited for open container of alcohol and given a warning for failure to use his safety restraint.
DispatchJohn Day dispatch worked 130 calls during the week of May 5-11, 2008. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:
Law enforcement: John Day Police picked up a bike that was found near Pebble Creek Apparel; JD Police took information on a theft at Pebble Creek Apparel; JD Police responded to a report of hit and run property damage to a vehicle at the Best Western; Grant County Sheriff’s Office took a report of sex abuse in Mt. Vernon; JD Police received information on a hit and run at Ace Hardware; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of livestock at large in the West Bench/Bumpy Road area; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an animal hit by a vehicle and not reported to the owners; Dispatch received a report of an outage in the Monument and Long Creek areas; JD Police cited a Redmond woman for speeding and driving while suspended; JD Police and Sheriff’s deputies took a report of a dog bite; Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Canyon City woman for strangulation, parole violation and harrassment.
Ambulance: John Day ambulance was requested for person who was hurting; JD ambulance was requested for an 86-year-old woman who was feeling dizzy; JD ambulance was requested for an 80-year-old woman who fell and hit her head; JD ambulance was requested for a man who had collapsed; Mt. Vernon ambulance was requested for a 61-year-old man with low blood sugar; JD ambulance did an Airlife transport; JD ambulance transported a man suffering from back spasms; JD ambulance was requested for an elderly woman with an extreme drop in blood sugar; Long Creek ambulance transported a 62-year-old man who was possibly having a stroke.
