Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Michael Roberts, Bend, was cited for violation of the speed law (42/25 zone) and fined $145. He failed to appear at the hearing and was found guilty by default.
? Sharon Thom, North Bend, was cited for violation of the speed law (72/55 zone) and fined $110.
? Kelley Hill, Reedsport, was cited for violation of the speed law (44/25 zone) and fined $145.
? Timothy Slate, Burns, was cited for violation of the basic rule (76/55 zone) and fined $242.
? Kimberly Jacobs, Prairie City, was cited for violation of the basic rule (75/55 zone) and fined $110.
? Patrick Johnson, Beaverton, was cited for violation of the basic rule (75/55 zone) and fined $145.
Small Claims? Winegar Excavating Inc. v. Darrel Holliday. Money judgment awarded to Winegar Excavating in the amount of $2,458.
Circuit Court? Frederick Brian Gardner, 55, was convicted of one count of resisting arrest. He was placed on bench probation for 18 months, jailed for 3 days and fined $333 in court fines, costs and assessments. He was also convicted of one count of refusing to take a breath test, for which he was fined $603. Two other counts for driving under the influence of intoxicants and for harassment were dismissed.
DispatchJohn Day dispatch worked 83 calls during the week of May 19-23, 2008. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:
Law enforcement: John Day Fire Department responded to a report of a truck that caught fire; Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Mt. Vernon man for violation of conditional release and harassment; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a missing person at Magone Lake; JD Police arrested a John Day man on a Grant County warrant; JD Police cited a John Day man for possession of a controlled substance; John Day dispatch took reports of phone outages in Long Creek and Monument; JD Police cited a John Day man for theft; Sheriff’s deputies took a report of dogs chasing livestock east of Prairie City; JD Police cited a minor for possession of tobacco.
Ambulance: John Day ambulance did an Airlife transport; Mt. Vernon ambulance was requested for a woman with a broken ankle; JD ambulance was requested for a man who had fallen, was bleeding and unconscious; JD ambulance was requested for a woman who had fallen and hurt her foot; JD ambulance was requested for a woman with chest pains.
