JOHN DAY – Valley View Assisted Living Residence announces the 100th birthday of Florence Silvers with a cake and ice cream party at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 10. Everyone is invited to stop by to greet the birthday girl.

Florence was born on June 10, 1908, in Mitchell, to Maratina and Warren Davenport. She lived most of her life in Spray, and had five sisters and two brothers. Though she never had children of her own, she was happy to take care of her many nieces and nephews.

Westerns, Lawrence Welk and Bob Hope are among Florence’s favorite TV shows. Her favorite hobby is painting and she has many of her works proudly displayed in her apartment. She says she was never a “social butterfly,” preferring solitary pursuits such as painting and playing the piano. She frequently plays the organ at Valley View, picking out the tunes by ear.

After the party, all are invitedfor lunch at Valley View too. Please call 575-3533 to RSVP.
