First Lt. Andrew W. Vidourek, a Grant County native, has assumed command of A Company, 41st Special Troops Battalion in the Oregon Army National Guard.
The change of command ceremony was held Jan. 12.
Vidourek, who joined the Guard in December 2000, had his basic training at Fort Benning, Ga., and further training at Camp Grafton, N.D., as he served in A Company, 1249th Engineer Battalion.
He was commissioned as an officer in 2004 after attending the Oregon Military Academy, where graduated first in his class. He later was first in his class at the Engineer Officer Basic Course, and received the commandant’s award, graduating in 2006.
He has been a platoon leader and XO, and has completed several specialized training schools.
Vidourek is also a graduate of Oregon State University and works as a project manager for a golf course and sports field construction company.
