Many students came forward to accept certificates of achievement from their teachers at the academic awards event.

Nineteen students earned academic letters (above), and many other special awards were given out. Katie Latham-Mezzo was recognized for completing the transitions class; Bre Wilson was given the Student of the Year award for the second year in a row – all seven of her teachers voted for her; and Krista Qual was recognized for receiving her Certified Nursing Assistant license; students voted math teacher Matt Jones in as Teacher of the Year.

Jones asked the students, “Does this mean I taught you more than you thought you could learn?”
