MONUMENT – On June 3rd our menu consisted of sweet and sour meatballs on rice, green salad and brownies for dessert. A goodly amount of people were still out and about, but there were still 30 here to eat, visit and play “Mexican Train.” Jerry Cowger and Jack Sweek were both gone, but Bodean Andersen stepped up to the plate and made the announcemements.
The bus will be going to John Day on June 12th, and will leave at 10 a.m. Then on June 26th, the bus will be going to Condon. Remember, they can’t afford to take the bus anywhere unless at least six passengers go! Support the bus – please! Besides, it’s a “cool” trip to Condon; you’ll probably even have time to shop at the thriftshop at the Senior Center after dinner and to that neat little gift shop.
I’m going if I can. I’m waiting for three nice days in a row; thought I’d made it last Monday. I called my “chauffeur” for dinner on Tuesday, but woke up during the night, couldn’t breathe and it was raining, so waited awhile, then called and canceled my trip.
It’s really aggravating to not be able to go anywhere because it’s going to rain, or has already begun! And it’s kind of neat being able to whine a lot and not hear anyone telling me to shut up! It’s sad to really get started on a “good whine” and someone comes by and says, “Come on old girl, cowboy up!” Even my cats won’t listen to me.
