Motorcycle crash kills 2

BIGGS – Two people died Friday, June 13, after the motorcycle they were riding struck a guardrail on Highway 97 about one mile south of Biggs Junction.

Police said Sunday they had not yet determined who was operating the motorcycle.

The accident occurred about 9:10 p.m. when a northbound 2003 Harley Davidson with two riders struck a guardrail on the east side as it went into curve. Both people were ejected from the motorcycle and pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcycle came to a stop about 1,000 feet north of the victims’ locations.

Oregon State Police troopers from The Dalles Area Command office are investigating the crash.

The victims were identified as James Edward Caba Jr., 51, and Laura Lynn Lamb, 33, both of Wasco. Both were using protective helmets.

ODOT and local emergency responders assisted at the scene. Highway 97 was closed for 3- 1/2 hours.
