Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Holly Ford, Prairie City, was cited for unnecessary noise from a rooster and fined $50.
? Isaac Rodriguez, John Day, was cited for driving while suspended and fined $325.
? Everett Coulter, Spokane, Wash., was cited for violation of the basic rule (75/55 zone) and fined $145.
? Patrick Kinsey, Prairie City, was cited for violation of the basic rule (76/55 zone) and fined $185.
? Douglas Adams, Odell, was cited for violation of the speed law (56/35 zone) and fined $185.
? Jimmy Bier, Hermiston, was cited for violation of the basic rule (77/55 zone) and fined $185.
? Juanita Austin, Prineville, was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and fined $97.
? Jason Barnett, Seattle, Wash., was cited for violation of the basic rule (83/55 zone) and fined $242.
? Jerry Woodfin, Pilot Rock, was cited for violation of the basic rule (75/55 zone) and fined $145.
? Lucas Gwin, Baker City, was cited for violation of the speed law (80/55 zone) and fined $242.
? Rocco Sinisgalli, Bend, was cited for violation of the speed law (55/35 zone) and fined $110.
? Ian E. Eastland, Baker City, convicted of one count of possession of alcohol by a minor, failed to appear for his court date. He was found guilty by default and fined $500.
? Johnathan J. Rose, John Day, was convicted of one count of interfering with a peace officer. He was placed on bench probation for 30 days, ordered to perform 10 hours of community service and fined $157.
Small Claims? Valley Credit Service, Inc. v. Leslie Hutton. Money judgment awarded to Valley Credit Service, Inc. in the amount of $344.57.
? Ali Lenz v. John Haynes. Money judgment awarded to Ali Lenz in the amount of $2,885.57.
? Ali Lenz v. Jake Derosier. Money judgment awarded to Ali Lenz in the amount of $2,863.07.
Circuit CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Christopher R. Woodell, 24, was convicted of one count of violation driving while suspended or revoked, fined $320, to be paid in full within six months. He was also convicted of one count of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana for a fine of $603, to be paid in full within six months. One count of driving under the influence of intoxicants was diverted and another count of violation of the open container law was dismissed.
? Patrick Bradford Reynolds, 25, was convicted of one count of DUII, placed on supervised probation for 18 months, jailed for 48 hours and fined $1,443. His driver’s license was also suspended for one year. He was also convicted of one count of violation driving while suspended or revoked, for a fine of $320.
? Steven W. Hunt, 41, was convicted of one count of DUII, placed on supervised probation for 24 months, jailed for 60 days and fined $1,293. His driver’s license was also suspended for life. Another count of failure to notify upon change of driver address or name was dismissed.
Oregon State Police? About 10:25 p.m. on May 30, Oregon State Police observed a vehicle crossing over the centerline while traveling southbound on Highway 395 in the Seneca area. Raymond D. Moon, 29, of Bend, was cited and later released for driving under the influence of intoxicants and for throwing a lit cigarette from a moving vehicle. His pickup was removed from the scene by a friend.
? On Monday, June 2, at about 10:25 p.m., OSP responded to a report of a vehicle crash east of Mt. Vernon. A passing motorist advised police that a camp trailer, pulled by a westbound pickup had blown a tire and was emitting sparks as it dragged down the highway. En route to the crash, police saw signs of where a vehicle had left the roadway, crashed into a reflector and left grooves in the road. Police found the pickup and trailer parked in Mt. Vernon. Dennis L. Cole, 61, of Baker City was arrested for DUII and hit and run with property damage. Cole began complaining of pain in his left shoulder and revealed that while checking on the trailer’s blown tire, his pickup had rolled forward and collided into him, knocking him to the ground. He was taken to Blue Mountain Hospital, where he was examined by a physician and then taken back to jail. His vehicle was removed by a relative.
? About 5:45 p.m. June 7, a trooper observed a driver who lost his balance and stumbled, nearly falling to the ground outside his vehicle. The driver then accelerated as he drove away in his vehicle, throwing gravel with his tires and leaving ruts in the roadway. After a search police located the vehicle parked behind True Value Hardware and stopped the driver when he failed to signal upon turning. After an investigation, Neil C. Shaffer, 42, of Mt. Vernon was arrested for DUII and taken to Grant County Jail. On June 8, Shaffer, who had posted bail the day before, was taken into custody again for violating his release agreement (consumption of alcohol) and for misuse of 9-1-1.
? On Thursday, June 12, at about 9 p.m., police observed a vehicle driving without headlights on Highway 26 near Indian Creek Road, and beer cans being thrown out on the road. After an investigation, passengers, Josie C. Prophet, 19, and Miranda Berry, 18, were cited for minor in possession of alcohol and for open container of alcohol, and warned for offensive littering with 100 yards of waterway. Prophet, who was on probation with a “no intoxicants” clause, was also taken to Grant County Jail. The driver, who police found had not been drinking, was not cited.
? About 7:20 p.m. Saturday, June 14, OSP responded to a report of a fight at the Dale store. Police arrived at the residence where the assault was reported to have occurred and conducted an investigation. Patrick W. Shutphin, 46, of Dale, who had an outstanding felony warrant out of Umatilla County, and Shelly D. Schiller, 24, of Ukiah, who was intoxicated and is on probation also out of Umatilla County with a “no alcohol” clause, were arrested and taken to Grant County Jail.
Grant County Sheriff? Marc Brennon, 60, Olympia, Wash., was cited for violation of the basic rule (81/55 zone).
? Akhtar Shafqat, 56, Santa Rosa, Calif., was cited for violation of the basic rule (79/55 zone).

Law enforcement: Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft of gas and scrap metal in Granite; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a dog missing under suspicious circumstances; John Day Police Department responded to a report of a juvenile assault at Grant Union High School; JD Police cited a Sugar City, Idaho woman for speeding; JD Police took information on a theft at McDonald’s; JD Police and Sheriff’s deputies responded to a fight at the Outpost Restaurant and arrested a John Day man for disorderly conduct; Sheriff’s deputies took a report of theft and burglary at Ritter Hot Springs; JD Police arrested a John Day man for telephone harassment; Sheriff’s deputies investigated a conditional release violation on a Long Creek woman; Dispatch took a report of a man who had been bitten by a rattlesnake; JD Police cited a John Day man for driving uninsured and driving while suspended; JD Police cited a John Day woman for exhibition of speed; JD Police took a report of prescription fraud at Len’s Drugs; JD Police cited a Mountain Home, Idaho man for speeding; Sheriff’s deputies took a report of a stolen bicycle at Shoshoni Winds; JD Police cited a Sacramento man for speeding; JD Police arrested a Boulder City, Nev. man for DUII; Sheriff’s deputies cited a John Day man for speeding; John Day Fire Department and Oregon Department of Forestry were called for a burn pile that got out of control; Sheriff’s deputies took a report of an abandoned car on Highway 395 south of Magone Lake Road; JD Police cited a Tigard man for speeding; JD Police cited a Welches man for speeding.
Ambulance: John Day ambulance was requested for a woman in distress; JD ambulance was requested for a woman who had fallen and couldn’t get up; JD ambulance assisted with JD Police and Sheriff’s deputies at a dispute and possible diabetic problem; Prairie City ambulance was requested for a 79-year-old woman who had fallen and injured her knee; JD and Dayville ambulances were requested for an 81-year-old woman with cardiac symptoms; Seneca ambulance was requested for a man with intense stomach pain; Long Creek and JD ambulances assisted Sheriff’s deputies on a report of a man bitten by a dog in the face; Long Creek ambulance was requested for a woman who had been in a fight; JD ambulance transported Airlife crew; JD ambulance was requested for an elderly woman who was seizing.
