MOLALLA – The Grant County rodeo team made a strong showing in Molalla June 7 and 8.

Like much of Oregon, Molalla got a lot of rain in the weeks leading up to the North Valley High School rodeo. The soggy conditions forced the organizers to move the rodeo indoors.

Despite the change in venue, Amanda King continued to stay on the top during the rodeo. She won the pole bending event with a time of 20.233 seconds, and took second place in team roping with her partner Katie Buermann. King also took eighth in cutting.

Gus King and his partner Daniel Ibarra took 10th in team roping, but Gus tied for second place in tie down roping with a time of 15.53 seconds.

Gus, Amanda and Jay Kimball will participate in the 2008 Oregon High School Rodeo Finals June 18 to 21 in Klamath Falls.

Gus qualified in team roping and tie down roping, and Kimball earned a spot in the team roping. Amanda will be competing in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, break away roping and cutting at the finals.
