PRAIRIE CITY – June 11, 2008. A repeat of the same three guys preparing five tables for those coming later to eat the meal of stew, rolls, salad and cake, along with juice and choice of milk or buttermilk. Eula had 43 signed in.
The flag salute was led by Del Lake. The blessing was given by Bob McCauley. Barbara Reynolds won the Prairie Drug and Hardware certificate. Bill and Carolyn Hoeffner were first-timers, invited by Carla Wright.
Has been awhile for some who came. Ron and Carolyn Drinkwater came with Billy Drinkwater and are here for a few days before heading home to northwestern Washington, after traveling to see relatives in eastern states, like Pennsylvania and Ohio. I guess they missed the worst of the storms.
Leonard Cardwell, from Pendleton, was here for a meeting pertaining to the state park at Bates later today. Maybe we “oldies” will see the park started yet. I understand some metal needs to be picked up and removed before the state park people can progress.
Servers were Carla Wright, Vonnie Blasing and myself. After lunch Vivian Rookstool helped us in the kitchen.
From the nursing home, Ruth Johns, Wally Wedde and Joey Oatman were brought by Patty Jones and Lorna Askew.
