NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT OPEN HOUSE
In the matter of number relief for the 541 Area Code.
Available telephone numbers in the 541 area code are limited and cannot support the continued demand for new numbers. The number of available numbers for the 541 area code is expected to run out in early 2011.
Due to the time required to implement a new area code, the Public Utility Commission of Oregon (PUC) has opened an investigation to determine the appropriate method to provide number relief. To provide an opportunity for affected customers to comment and ask questions on the need for a new area code, the PUC will be holding 18 open house meetings throughout the state.
NOTICE IS GIVEN that a meeting affecting this area will be held as follows:
DATE:Thursday, June 26, 2008
TIME:5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
PLACE:Grant County Fairgrounds
Keerins Hall (North Rm.)
411 NW Bridge
John Day, OR 97845
Customers are invited to attend the open house at anytime from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to learn more about the area code investigation and comment on the proposed solutions. Members of the PUC Staff and industry representatives will be available to answer individual questions from the public during this time.
Interested persons may also visit the PUC website at HYPERLINK “http://www.puc.state.or.us” www.puc.state.or.us for information about the need for a new area code and the PUCs investigation. Customers may call the PUC for more information at 1-800-522-2404.
