1. Eligibility: Competitors must be amateurs. Each entrant in the Statewide Talent Contest must have entered through a county contest. THERE WILL BE NO PRELIMINARIES AT THE OREGON STATE FAIR IN 2008.
2. Previous Winners: Previous first place winners of the Statewide Talent Contest may not compete in the Statewide Talent Contest the following 2 years.
3. NEW AGE DIVISIONS: Must be entered in appropriate Division based on age of contestants at county fair contest date.
Children age 1 – 9 at the time of county fair talent show (all members must be in age group to enter division)
Youth age 10 – 17 at the time of the county fair talent show (all members must be in age group to enter division)
Adult 18 and over (any member over 18 must enter as adult)
4. Duos and/or groups must enter a division based on the age of the oldest member of the group.
5. Accompaniment: Recorded track may not include lead vocal.
6. Talent Categories: May not include more than three single instruments or full drum sets. Lip sync is not allowed.
7. Selection: Selections must be age appropriate and suitable for family audience.
No sexually explicit material, profanities or nudity of any kind will be tolerated. Those who attempt to perform these types of material will be promptly escorted from the talent competition.
8. Time Limit: Performances must not exceed five minutes, with one minute for set-up, if any.
9. NEW: If an individual resides in another county that does not have a county fair or a talent show or the dates of the county fair fall during/after the state fair, they may enter ONE county of their choice. All participants must qualify at a county fair.
10. First place winners in each division are eligible to represent Grant County at the State Talent Competition on Sunday, August 31, 2008.
11. Winning participants must decide the night of the competition if they will be attending state fair as the results must be faxed that same night to the Oregon State Fair.
12. If for any reason the 1st-place winner in any division is not able or willing to attend the state competition, the 2nd-place winner is eligible to compete in their place.
13. Participants and/or their family members will not be allowed to assist with the competition in any way.
14. Participants must behave in a professional and civil manner at all times while at the competition. Back-biting, rude remarks or unsportsmanlike conduct toward the master of ceremonies, judges, audience members, sound engineers, talent show coordinator, fellow competitors, or any other talent show official will not be tolerated.
15. Any violation of these rules will result in the immediate disqualification of the participant with any titles awarded being revoked.
16. Any participant wishing to contest judging decisions must do so through the Grant County Fair Board.
