Tye and Stephanie Parsons have taken charge of S & C Electric, the business Tye’s father, Steve, started in 1988. Steve and his wife Dotty have been gradually turning things over to the next generation, and officially retired June 1.
A year ago, S & C moved out of its longtime location on Main Street in John Day, in the building that now houses the Chamber of Commerce. The business is now located in offices out of the Parsons’ home at 60360 Highway 26, across from Carpenter Pond Road.
Steve worked as an electrician for many years prior to starting up S & C Electric, with Tye working alongside his father in the family business for about the past seven years.

Electricity seems to run throughout the family, with two of Tye’s brothers and a brother-in-law all working in electrical-related fields, too. Dotty took care of all the bookkeeping, scheduling and other office work, duties that have been taken over by Stephanie.
Prepared with an array of equipment, including a boom truck with an auger to dig holes for power and service pole installation, a complete set of trusses, and a selection of submersible pumps, S & C Electric offers complete electrical services for residential, industrial and commercial needs.
Some of the bigger jobs the company has handled recently include renovations for the Kam Wah Chung Museum, the Dewitt Museum in Prairie City, the Mt. Vernon Community Center and the facilities at Lake Creek Youth Camp.
To schedule an appointment or for more information, call the Parsons at 575-0090, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
