Obituaries: Lewis W. Joslin

Lewis W. Joslin, 78, of John Day, died at his home on Aug. 28, 2008. No funeral services are planned at this time.

He was born Oct. 7, 1929 in Winnett, Mont. to Laurell and Bertha (Winnett) Joslin. He attended high school in Sonora, Calif. and served in the United States Army from 1949 to 1953.

On June 20, 1954, he married Alma Sappington in Reno, Nev. He was a mill worker, retiring in 1992.

He enjoyed woodworking, reading Western books and fishing. He was an accomplished family man and a wonderful husband, father and grandparent.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one brother, Lee Joslin.

Survivors include his wife, Alma of John Day; daughter, Linda Hirsch of Burns; sons, Glen (Kelly) Joslin of Hilmar, Calif., Ken (Sherry) Joslin of John Day and Casey (Caroline) Joslin of Burns; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
