HEPPNER – A reward is being offered for someone who helps investigators solve a deer poaching case in Morrow County.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division in Heppner this week called for the public to report any information about the person or persons who illegally killed six deer near Heppner.

A $250 reward was offered through the “Turn in Poachers” (TIP) program, and a local landowner chipped in to increase the reward total to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of those responsible.

According to OSP Sgt. Tim Brown, troopers were investigating the unlawful killing of five deer, including one whitetail doe and four mule deer does, when they found a sixth dead deer. All six deer were killed between Aug. 20 and Sept. 1 within five miles of the city limits of Heppner.

All six deer appeared to have been killed in the same manner during evening hours on private property.
