Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Michael J. McBeth, Prineville, pleaded guilty to possession of alcohol by a minor and for open container of alcohol. He was fined a total of $685 and his driver’s license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.
? Serge Lemay, Bend, was convicted of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana. He failed to appear for the hearing and was found guilty by default. He was fined $1,000 and his driver’s license was suspended.
? Heather Reilly was found guilty of contempt of court for failure to pay fines and sentenced to 23 days in the custody of the Grant County Sheriff.
? Shauntae R. Green, Prairie City, pleaded guilty to two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, was placed on probation for 24 months, ordered to perform 80 hours of community service and fined $1,350. Two other counts on the same charges were dismissed.
? Carl Robert Peterson, Prairie City, pleaded guilty to two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor, was placed on probation for 24 months, ordered to perform 80 hours of community service and fined $1,350. Two other counts on the same charges were dismissed.
? Daniel Tooke, Burns, received the following citations and fines: no insurance, $242; for failing to appear, driver’s license suspended and a fine of $25; for failure to renew registration, $97; and for failing to appear, driver’s license suspended and a fine of $25.
? Debra Gillingham, Long Creek, received the following citations and fines: driving while suspended, $427; for failing to appear, driver’s license suspended and a fine of $25; for no insurance, $242; and for failing to appear, her driver’s license was suspended for a fine of $25.
? Tim Barott, Seneca, was cited for open container of alcohol and fined $185.
? Troy Wells, Mt. Vernon, was cited for violation of the basic rule (81/55 zone) and fined $242.
? Vicki Mills, Bend, was cited for violation of the speed law (59/35 zone) and fined $185.
? Randall Hatten, Washougal, Wash., was cited for violation of the basic rule (85/55 zone) and fined $242.
? David Byram, Prineville, was cited for violation of varience permit and fined $97.
? James McKinley, Prairie City, was cited for overweight load and fined $133.
? Jamie Casto, Eugene, was cited for violation of the basic rule (53/35 zone) and fined $145.
Small Claims? Credit Services of Oregon v. Joyce A. Officer aka Jody Officer. Money judgment awarded to Credit Services of Oregon in the amount of $231.51.
? Jim Carpenter, P.C. v. Cassandra Arlene Miles. Money judgment awarded to Jim Carpenter, P.C. in the amount of $850.80.
? Credit Services of Oregon v. Crystal J. Freniere aka Crystal J. Herren and Bryon E. Freniere. Money judgment awarded to Credit Services of Oregon in the amount of $332.67.
Circuit CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Crystal Jane Freniere, 25, was convicted of one count of harassment. She was placed on bench probation for 18 months, ordered to complete 40 hours of community service and fined $233.
Oregon State Police? Oregon State Police responded to the report of a single vehicle crash at about 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11 on Highway 26 west of John Day. Police said the eastbound vehicle, a Peterbilt truck/trailer that was pulling a pup trailer and loaded with lumber, tried to avoid a collision with a westbound car that was partially in the eastbound lane. The driver drove his truck and trailer combo off the roadway and then attempted to bring the vehicle back onto the road. The pup trailer went into a slide, rolled onto its top, spilling the load of lumber. The vehicles and lumber were later towed away. The driver, Bruce A. McGlothlin of Nampa, Idaho, was uninjured.
? At 11:14 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, OSP assisted the John Day Police Department with the investigation of a reported rape earlier in the evening at the Best Western in John Day. John Day Police are continuing the investigation.
? Police responded to a report of a fight between neighbors on A Street in Seneca at about 7:12 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14. The dispute, reportedly over a piece of furniture, escalated into a physical fight, police said. Local residents assisted in separating the combatants. Devin Elliott, 20, and Benjamin Nielsen, 45, both of Seneca, were arrested for disorderly conduct. Jeramy Gibson, 22, of John Day, was taken into custody for violation of probation, for providing alcohol to a minor who was present. The investigation is continuing.
DispatchJohn Day dispatch worked 136 calls during the week of Sept. 8-14, 2008. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:
Law enforcement: Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report that a log truck ran a vehicle off the road on Highway 26 near the Wheeler-Grant County line; Oregon Department of Transportation responded to a report of water flowing over Highway 26 at Happy Valley Lane; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a runaway in Dayville; Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 49-year-old man for driving under the influence of intoxicants east of Mt. Vernon; John Day Police Department responded to a report of a green pickup almost hitting pedestrians in the Charolais Heights area; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of theft in the Mt. Vernon area; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a 77-year-old hunter lost on Aldrich Mountain; JD Police responded to a report of mopeds driving around in the Grant Union High School area about 12:30 a.m.; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a disoriented woman at the Magone Lake campground; JD Police responded to a report of theft at Subway; JD Police responded a report of a suspicious person trying to sell miscellaneous items; Prairie City Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on South River Road; Sheriff’s deputies received information on two missing motorcyclists at Big Creek campground; Sheriff’s deputies cited a Mt. Vernon 17-year-old for speeding, failing to register his vehicle and not having proof of insurance; Sheriff’s deputies received information on trespassing in the Monument area; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint of people running hounds at night in the South Fork area.
Ambulance: John Day and Mt. Vernon ambulances were requested for an 83-year-old woman who couldn’t get up; JD ambulance was requested for a 57-year-old person who had fallen from a 10-15 ft. cliff; JD and Prairie City ambulances were requested for a 55-year-old man with nausea; JD ambulance was requested for an 86-year-old woman who had fallen and possibly broken her ribs; JD and Long Creek ambulances were requested for a woman having arterial fibrillations and feeling weak and dizzy; JD ambulance was requested for a man who had fallen off a ladder and had a possible broken hip.
