JOHN DAY – Forget about the big city museums and art galleries.
If you’re on the search for a fine showing of quilt and artwork, then the Grant County fairgounds is the place to be this weekend.
The 2008 Grant County Quilt and Art Show will be held for three full days, Friday-Sunday, Sept. 18, 20 and 21. Times for Friday and Saturday are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is $3 per person.
Featured artist this year is Sharon Shultz, with “The Sister Act” – Zola Pike, Tami Gould & Kristie Bobbitt – as the featured quilters.
A variety of new quilting workshops will be available this year, as well as numerous quilting and sewing vendors on hand. A People’s Choice Award will also be given daily for both quilts and fine art pieces. Gourmet lunch and desserts will also be available.
Quilts do not need to be made, owned or quilted by the exhibitor, but they may not have been seen at the Grant County Quilt and Art Show within the past two years. Fine art pieces must be in a frame and ready for hanging.
For more information about the fair, preregistering for the workshops, or displaying some of your fine art and/or quilts, call the fair office at 575-1900.
