JOHN DAY – Monday, Sept. 8, members of the Lutheran Church served the meal. Rick Woodall led the flag salute and Rev. Blesi asked the blessing.
Delicious chicken-noodle soup was served along with hearty sandwiches. Cookies were served for dessert. Cindy made homemade noodles which really “kicked up” a hearty meal.
Don Porter was wished a happy birthday, and Dean and Jeanette Kile celebrated 52 years of marriage on Sept. 1. Congratulations!
Bob McCauley was the recipient of the certificate given by Len’s Drugs.
Visited briefly with Linda Bennett to congratulate her on the attractive new paint colors of the Blue Mountain Motel. Also noticed a “Welcome Bikers” sign and a windshield wash station for their convenience. When you drive by, notice the fresh, new look and Old Glory flying!
I will be out of town for the dinner on Thursday, the 11th. The Mt. Vernon Grange members will serve with the able and welcome help of the staff from Driskill Memorial Chapel.
Driskill will furnish the Sept. birthday cake and Chester’s Thriftway will give a certificate to some lucky shopper.
Thursday, the 18th, lasagna will be served; potato bar Monday the 22nd; and pork on the 25th. Taco salad will polish off September on the 29th. Wow! Where has the time gone?
If we did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.
