Officials lift some Egley closures

JOHN DAY – With work on the Egley Complex fire area progressing, some closures have been lifted, but others remain in effect because of the continuing hazards associated with the fires, Malheur National Forest officials announced.
The following lists shows what’s now open in the Egley area:
? All roads and areas outside of the Egley Complex fire perimeter.
? Delintment Lake, Emigrant, Falls, Tiptop and Yellowjacket Recreation sites, as well as the Allison Guard Station.
However, motorized access remains closed on public lands within the Egley Complex fire perimeter. Access in this area is permitted by foot, horseback, or bicycle only.
Anyone planning to visit the Egley wildfire complex area should take along a current closure map is essential. The free maps are available at the Burns District BLM office, the Emigrant Creek Ranger District office, the Malheur National Forest offices in Prairie City and John Day, B & B Sporting Goods in Hines.
BLM, Forest Service and Harney County officials are evaluating the Egley Complex closures on a weekly basis and plan to open additional areas as conditions continue to improve.
