Sheepdog trials coming up in Pendleton

PENDLETON – Sheepdog handlers from throughout the West will compete Oct. 3-5 at the seventh annual Western States Regional Sheepdog Championship trial at Wildhorse Resort five miles east of Pendleton.
The trial will begin at 7 a.m. Friday and Saturday will run until about 5:30 p.m. both days.? On Sunday, for the double-lift Final, the action will start at 8 a.m. and run until about 4 p.m.? There will be a bagpiper-led parade of finalists at 10 a.m.
Spectators are welcome; a $3 admission charge per adult over 12 will help defray expenses of the trial.?
Daily family admission is $5, and $10 for multiple-day admission for families.?
Top handlers are expected from eight western states that comprise District 1 of the U.S. Border Collie Handlers Association.
