To the Editor:

With regard to recent letters about the sheriff’s race, I would like to add:

There is a jail manager, Sgt. Steve McGuire, who oversees the operations of the jail. He is the one who keeps the beds rented, works schedules for corrections deputies and projects the jail budget.

Sgt. McGuire is the one who secured the new transport van for the jail. The manager is the one who schedules transports to and from other jails.

The jail manager is just that; he manages the daily operations of the jail.

So does Mike Durr have the qualifications to run the jail? Absolutely!
