SENECA – The Seneca School Foundation (TSSF) is continuing its support of school programs, scholarships and maintenance projects this year.

The Foundation held its annual meeting recently in the Seneca School library. In attendance were board members Sam Seebart, John McGhee, Diane Browning, Adele Cerny, Rick Minster, Kay Trafton, Javier Goirigolzarri, and Judith Beaudet Reed.

The board agreed to pursue ideas on how the Foundation can best contribute to the Seneca Youth Sports Club, which was formed last year by parents who want their kids to have the chance to participate in local sports.

The Foundation also plans to continue funding the music program at the school for the second year in a row.

In addition, Seneca School’s History Project website has been absorbed into the TSSF website.

Thanks to a very generous donation, the Foundation is looking into replacing the windows on the northwest side of the lower level classrooms.

The Foundation, formed in 2003 as a nonprofit, also awards scholarships – $4,000 to date through its Seneca Logger Scholarships program for qualifying eighth-grade graduates. The program has come full circle with the first recipient, Alec Oliver, having completed his first semester at college with all requirements met. The scholarship check was mailed to the University of Idaho.

Two other recipients, Brady Long and Sam Rawlins, graduated from Grant Union in 2008, and their checks will be mailed to their colleges upon their completion of scholarship requirements mid-year.
