PRAIRIE CITY – The Green Thumb Garden Club of Prairie City recently announced the winners of the club’s annual garden contest.

Each year, the club tours the Prairie City community, selecting yards and gardens they feel are exceptional.

This year’s winners are Eva and Larry Hicks, Marlene and Merritt Woodley, and Carole and Gene Garrison. Each couple received a card in the mail announcing the honor, along with a $25 cash award.

According to club member Nancy Akers, no specific criteria is used. She says, “We try to find ones that have eye-catching attractiveness, are attractive and well-groomed, or are attractive with lots of love and care.”
