JOHN DAY – The Grant County Fair Board is holding a contest for the people and communities of Grant County to help develop the theme and color scheme for the 100th Grant County Fair. 

The Fair Board wants to encourage all county citizens to participate and be a part of the 100th fair. 

Individuals, groups or communities are asked to submit a theme and a color scheme for 100th fair to the fair office by Nov. 7. To submit your idea, call 575-1900.

Theme submissions will be separated by regions of the county, designated as:

? North – areas around and including Monument, Long Creek, and Dale.

? East – areas around and including Prairie City, and Granite.

? West – areas around and including Kimberly and Dayville.

? South – areas around and including Seneca and Canyon City.

? Central – areas around and including Mt Vernon and John Day.

Fair Superintendants will choose one theme from each of the five regions represented.

The five finalists will be announced Nov. 10 at the fair board meeting, and the fair office will notify the finalists. The finalists will need to create a box displaying their theme and color scheme and deliver it to the fair office by 4:30 p.m. Nov. 25.

People will be able vote at each town listed above as well as at the Pavilion for the Timber Truckers Parade and the Festival of Trees by putting money in the box for the theme they like best. Proceeds will go to the Grant County 100th fair.

The theme that has earned the most money will win. The winner will be announced Dec. 17 in the Blue Mountain Eagle and on KJDY.
