Oregon Scottish Rite Clinics will hold two receptions this week to provide information about a new speech-language-communication treatment program for preschool children in Eastern Oregon.

Both will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The first will be on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the Sunridge Conference Center in Baker City, and the second will be on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Masonic Lodge in La Grande.

Dr. Philip Levinson, Executive Director, Emily Hawkins, Speech-Language Pathologist for the new clinic, and members of the Eastern Oregon Advisory Council will be on hand to answer questions from parents, grandparents, and others who are interested in learning more about preschool speech and communication problems as well as this new program. A short video will be shown and light refreshments will be served.

The new Eastern Oregon Clinic began operating on a part-time basis in Baker City and is located within the medical clinic of Dr. Charles Hofmann, who has donated the space. A significant gift from a Portland couple and a grant from the Leo Adler Foundation helped make this new program possible.

The vision of Oregon Scottish Rite Clinics is that all of Oregon’s children have the communication skills necessary for success at home, in school and in life by the time they enter kindergarten.
