Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.

Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:

? Tonya Davis, Princeton, was cited for violation of the basic rule (80/55 zone) and fined $242.

? Robert Marshall, Eugene, was cited for violation of the basic rule (78/55 zone) and fined $185.

? Gonzales Sandoval, Springfield, was cited for violation of the basic rule (70/45 zone) and fined $242.

? Darren Whitlow, Baker City, was cited for violation of the speed law (59/35 zone) and fined $185.

? Dustin Kucera, Warren, was cited for violation of the basic rule (50/35 zone) and fined $145.

? Brent Schatz, Seneca, was convicted of possession of alcohol by a minor. He was fined $500 and ordered to complete an alcohol treatment program. His driver’s license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

? Bronwin Bartlett, Mt. Vernon, was convicted of possession of alcohol by a minor. He was fined $500 and his driver’s license was supended for a minimum of 90 days.

? Kyle L. Kinsey, Prairie City, was convicted of possession of alcohol by a minor. He was fined $500 and his driver’s license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

? Sam Gunderson, Boise, Idaho, was convicted of possession of alcohol by a minor. He was fined $500 and his driver’s license was suspended for a minimum of 90 days.

Small Claims? Robert and Janet Rude v. Tina and Kirk Cook. Money judgment awarded to Robert and Janet Rude in the amount of $334.13.

? Credit Associates, Inc. v. Kimberly Watson. Money judgment awarded to Credit Associates, Inc. in the amount of $3,679.09.

? Credit Associates, Inc. v. Brian Luglan. Money judgment awarded to Credit Associates, Inc. in the amount of $1,135.32.

? Credit Services of Oregon v. George Wyatt Wright and Donetha Rae Wright. Money judgment awarded to Credit Associates, Inc. in the amount of $595.94.

Circuit CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Circuit Court reported the following fines and judgments:

? Shelly D. Schiller, 24, was convicted of one count of felon in possession of a firearm, sentenced to supervised probation for 36 months, ordered to complete 80 hours of community service, jailed for 30 days and fined $853. For one count of fourth-degree assault, she was placed on supervised probation for 24 months, ordered to complete 40 hours of community service, jailed for 10 days and fined $833. One count of third-degree assault was dismissed.

Oregon State Police? Oregon State Police assisted John Day Police in serving a felony warrant at Dreamer’s Lodge in John Day at about 9:25 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13. After the suspect refused to answer the door, police forcibly entered his room. Christopher Wayne Lyons, 36, who was recently released from prison, was taken into custody without further incident and lodged at Grant County Jail.

? At about 7:28 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, OSP investigated a single vehicle crash v. cow on Highway 26 near Highway 395. The cow pushed a gate open and walked into the path of the eastbound pickup truck, driven by Arthur Leroy Kilander, 61, of Eagle Creek. Its owner, Gale Enright, arrived but was unable to locate the injured cow which had by then, rejoined the herd.

? About 7:28 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, OSP and JD Police followed a vehicle from the McDonald’s drive-up window and attempted to stop it as it reached 55 mph in a 45 mph zone. The driver failed to yield, continuing westbound on Highway 26, finally stopping at his residence, where police removed the driver from the vehicle. Donald W. Phillips, 58, John Day, was booked and lodged in Grant County Jail for DUII, resisting arrest and failing to obey a police officer.

? OSP responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 395 near milepost 106 at 5:17 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17. A southound pickup truck traveled into the northbound lane after the driver fell asleep while negotiating a curve. The vehicle left the roadway, striking a large tree head on. Zane Warren Mullin, 20, was taken to Blue Mountain Hospital and then airlifted to Portland for further treatment.

? About 11:20 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, OSP stopped a vehicle on Highway 395 at SW 2nd Ave. in John Day, for failing to signal a turn. Billy Jim Hoffman, 52, Miranda, Calif., was cited and released for unlawful possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

? At about 6:56 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, police responded to a report of a deer shot in a field on the Long View Ranch property on State Route 19. A small silver car was reported to have been seen parked at the scene when the shots were fired. Upon OSP’s arrival, the vehicle had left the area. The case is still open.

? OSP investigated single vehicle crash v. deer on Highway 26 near Indian Creek Road, at about 7:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. The pickup truck, driven by Toni Sue Seebart, 29, of Unity, struck four deer who had entered into her eastbound lane. Two dead deer were found at the scene. The vehicle was towed to John Day.

Grant County Sheriff? Kimberly Watson, 23, Mt. Vernon, was cited for fourth-degree domestic assault.

? Jeffrey Furtney, 36, Mt. Vernon, was cited for operating an ATV on a highway and driving while suspended.

? Roberta Holder, 56, Portland, was cited for violation of the basic rule (55/35 zone) and warned for expired registration.

DispatchJohn Day dispatch worked 165 calls during the week of Oct. 13-19, 2008. Along with the various traffic warnings, trespassing, injured animals, noise complaints and juvenile complaints, these calls included:

Law enforcement: John Day Police arrested a Heppner man for a parole and probation violation; JD Police responded to a report of theft of a roof vent; Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Fox man for driving under the influence of intoxicants; Prairie City Police arrested a Prairie City man for contempt of court; JD Police responded to a report of mail stolen at Riverside Mobile Home Park; JD Police cited a Portland man for speeding; JD Police responded to a report of phone harassment at Riverside Mobile Home Park; Mt. Vernon Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on Rimrock Lane; JD Police responded to a report of criminal mischief and theft at Wright’s Car Wash; Sheriff’s deputies and Mt. Vernon ambulance responded to a report of an accident on Highway 395 north of Magone Lake Road; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of theft in Mt. Vernon.

Ambulance: Dayville and John Day ambulances were requested for an 88-year-old man having chest pains; JD ambulance was requested to Unity for a 21-year-old man with chest pains; JD ambulance was requested for a man possibly suffering a heart attack; Long Creek ambulance was requested for a man who was kicked in the head by a cow; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault in the Seneca area; MV Fire Department responded to a report of a flue fire in Mt. Vernon; U.S. Forest Service responded to a report of a forest fire on Forest Road 0128.
