CANYON CITY – A one-week layoff of the Grant County Road Department was ordered last week – and then rescinded.

“Everybody’s back on schedule,” Road Master Mark Hensley said on Monday.

Hensley declined to comment on the reason for the layoff order.

Employees were notified about the week off, which had been scheduled for this week, in a meeting last week.

Hensley also declined to discuss the reasons for canceling the layoff, saying only that the department was in “business as usual” this week.
