Letter: Walden spin?

To the Editor:

In the “mixed emotions” letter to the editor (Oct. 15) it was stated that “Rep. Walden didn’t approve the first plan put forth.” Really? He voted for the first plan as well as the second, pork-laden bill.

Quite simply, the bailout bill is theft. It is a massive transfer of wealth from the middle class to those who are already filthy rich. It will do nothing to stabilize the markets, which have seen a significant drop since it was first proposed. It will line the pockets of the “foxes taking over the henhouse” as Elaine Smith pointed out and have deleterious effects on the economy for decades.

Both Walden and Smith have shown that they are more interested in aligning themselves with the financial oligarchy than acting “in the best interest of all the citizens of Oregon and the United States” as stated in the letter.
