JORDAN VALLEY – Injuries and communication errors hurt Prairie City last week.

The Panthers fell 58-36 to Jordan Valley Friday, Oct. 17. Prairie City was close early on with the score at 12-8. However, senior running back Brandon Crisler took a hard hit in the second quarter and sat out the remainder of the game. It’s still unsure if his ribs are broken or bruised.

With one of three starting seniors off the field, Prairie City began to have problems.

“Brandon went out like two minutes into the second quarter,” Prairie City coach Scott Hoberg said. “It was one of the biggest hits I’ve seen in a high school game.”

Miscommunication with officials turned what was supposed to be a third down into a fourth down, forcing a turnover on downs for the Panthers in the first half. Similar plays and Crisler’s injury wore on the Panthers. They trailed 58-12 in the third quarter.

Prairie City made a comeback in the fourth quarter and put another 24 points on the board, but it was too little, too late. Jordan Valley put up 401 yards to Prairie City’s 385.

“Jordan Valley is a great football team,” Hoberg said. “They are a tough physical team.”

The Panthers will play Monument/Long Creek/Dayville at 2 p.m. Oct. 24 in Monument.
