Letter: A second chance

To the Editor:
Regarding the article “Northeast Oregon communities push for more timber” (www.myeaglenews.com): It seems to me that the extended forest receipts are a second chance that had better be taken seriously this time. We had seven years in the first round in which to gain economic control of our counties and to replace timber dependency.
Now the wolf is really at our door(s) and there will be no more second chances for a bail-out. Those 100 people (at the Elgin meeting) need to be thousands who are standing up for their futures. The few who have been holding our counties at bay need to be faced and made to see reason. After all we still have majority rule, at least for now.
Stand up, Be counted.
