JOHN DAY – Watterson Logging of John Day has been nominated for Eastern Oregon Regional Operator of the Year award.
The Oregon Department of Forestry each year selects an outstanding operator from each of three regions. Watterson was nominated for its work that has consistently exceeded the Forest Practices Act and Forest Practice rules.
According to Kirk Ausland, stewardship forester with ODF in John Day, Watterson’s work demonstrates the ability to handle difficult circumstances, innovation and extra effort to produce outstanding results.
An ODF staff committee on Oct. 20 visited work that Watterson recently completed near the Pine Creek drainage and Fox Valley, as well as job sites in Elgin and White City.
The 2008 Eastern Oregon Operator of the Year will be announced in January.
