Charles "Chuck" Jordan

Charles F. “Chuck” Jordan, 78, of John Day, died Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2008 at Blue Mountain Hospital.

Mr. Jordan was born Sept. 28, 1930 in Vancouver, Wash., to Jack and Anna (Martin) Jordan. He attended McCloud High School in McCloud, Calif., graduating in 1948.

An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, as well as all types of woodworking. He touched many lives and brought a smile to those he met. He was a timber faller until he retired. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and of the senior centers in Grand Coulee, Wash. and Wilbur, Wash.

His constant companion, along with his wife Helen, was his registered wirehair German shorthair, Hogan Von Treberwolf.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Anna Jordan; brother, Robert Jordan; daughter, Kathy Lynn Betschart; grandson, George R. Shear; and great-grandson, Cavin Schnabel.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Jordan of John Day; six daughters, Ginger (Stu) Nieman of Spokane, Sue (Bugs) Shear, Jean (George) Sanford, and Barbara (Vernon) Bird, all of Grand Coulee, Wash., Joni (Dennis) Dalton of McCloud, Calif., and Jackie (Kenny) Noggles of Coulee City, Wash.; and his sons, Charles D. Jordan of McCloud, Calif. and Richard D. Jordan of Chicago. He had 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Driskill Memorial Chapel, 241 S. Canyon Blvd., John Day, OR 97845.
