CANYON CITY – Grant County has designated the third week of November as “Recycling Awareness Week,” and county officials are encouraging citizens to make an ongoing effort at waste prevention through recycling.

Tips for reducing waste include:

? Composting yard debris and food scraps.

? Purchasing products with recyclable packaging.

? Buying products in bulk.

? Using rechargeable batteries.

? Borrowing books and other reading materials from the Library.

? Saving unwanted paper to use as scratch paper.

? Reusing grocery bags.

? Donating usable items to local charities or non-profit organizations.
