JOHN DAY – The American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring the annual gifts for veterans, who are patients in VA hospitals. These items are provided for veterans as gifts for their families. Drop unwrapped gifts at Mosier’s Home Furnishings, where they will be displayed in the window.

Nov. 3rd, the Blue Mountain Hospital Auxiliary served soup and sandwiches. Marge Wagner led the flag salute and Bert Kruse asked the blessing. Don Porter was awarded the certificate from Len’s.

Thursday, Brad Westfall, representing Clear Choice, bought everyone’s dinner. Brad always looks forward to the John Day senior meals, as “the very best.” He came to answer questions about new rules of Medicare and explain Clear Choice to those wanting to apply for health insurance.

Members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church served the meal of lasagna, tossed salad, peas, garlic bread and brownies. Les Schwab furnished the entree.

Helen Bogart led the flag salute. Helen has also placed decorations for Veterans Day. Be sure to thank a veteran, also remembering the brave men and women of today’s military, serving worldwide. Beth Spell asked the blessing.

Bob McCauley had another story. This has become a much-appreciated event!

No drawings were held today, as Brad paid for all the meals.

Enjoy Monument’s news from Sylvia and don’t understand if this is permanent. Carolyn’s news was always entertaining with her comments from childhood memories.

Come enjoy Stroganoff on the 13th and cook’s choice the 17th. Thanks to all for supporting the senior center.

Age is a high price to pay for maturity!
