Schools ring in Christmas

Here’s are the upcoming holiday programs at area schools:

Most Popular

? Mt. Vernon Middle School band and choir presents “Twas One Crazy Night Before Christmas,” 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15.

? Grant Union High School band and choir presents “Christmas Music for Winds and Voices,” in the GUHS old gym 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16. This is the band and choir’s annual dessert concert. The cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. Admission for the concert is free.

? Humbolt Elementary School presents “December Gifts,” Wednesday, Dec. 17, in the school gym.

The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. with the kindergarten, first- and second-grade classes. After a short intermission, grades three-five and the Little Singers will perform. Included will be holiday and winter selections, plus a script written by the fifth-grade students.

Donations of nonperishable food items for the Grant County Food Bank and Helping Hands, a new food pantry at the John Day United Methodist Church, will be accepted at the door. Grandparents are invited to the final rehearsal at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

? The Grant Union High School drama class presents a one act play “The One and Only Santa Claus,” by Pat Cook, 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 17 and 18, in the school’s old gym. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. The play is appropriate for all ages and there will be opportunities to speak to Santa and his helpers.

? Dayville School invites the public to its Christmas program at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18.
