Delores Jean Neumann, 74, of Burns, died Nov. 30, 2008 at Harney District Hospital in Burns.

Mrs. Neumann was born Jan. 20, 1935 to Richard B. Chase and Hazel M. (Smith) Chase in Eagle Point.
She lived in Eastern Oregon her entire life. She attended Grant Union High School and later received her GED.
On Feb. 28, 1953, she married Ed Neumann in Canyon City.

She worked for the Hines School District as a cook and custodian. After retirement, she raised sheep for wool and learned to spin yarn. She loved to garden in spite of the alkali of Harney County. She loved God’s word and spent most of her life trying to understand it better.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Gustave Edward Neumann Sr. of Hines; her children, Gustave E. Neumann Jr. of Hines, Rosemary J. Myers of Medford, and John H. Neumann of Whitehall, Mont.; brothers, Tom Edmondson of Vale and Kelly Edmondson of Burns; a sister, Jane Edmondson of Portland; grandchildren, Melissa Taber, Roseanne Myers, Aric Myers, Scott Myers, Claire Neumann, Lydia Neumann, Carl Neumann, Rachel Neumann and Jed Jewell; and four great-grandchildren.
