Arrests and citations the Blue Mountain Eagle reports are taken from the logs of area law-enforcement agencies. Every effort is made to report the court disposition of all arrests listed.
Justice CourtCANYON CITY – The Grant County Justice Court reported the following fines and judgments:
? Melissa Hale, Prairie City, was cited for driving while suspended and fined $325. A charge of driving uninsured was dismissed after she showed proof.
? Vincent Tirico, Mt. Vernon, was cited for violation of the basic rule (88/55 zone) and fined $325.
? Joe Silveira, Mountlake Terrace, Wash., was cited for having an open container of alcohol and fined $242.
? William Marteney was cited for violation of the basic rule (70/55 zone) and fined $110.
? Wade Fagen, Bend, was cited for violation of the basic rule (81/55 zone) and fined $242.
? Henry Blaszek, Prairie City, was cited for having a dog running at large and fined $25.
? David K. Bonine, La Pine, was convicted of one count of unlawful taking of a buck deer. He was placed on bench probation for 18 months, ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and fined $1,133 plus $800 in restitution to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. His hunting privileges were also suspended for 24 months and he was ordered to forfeit antlers to the state of Oregon.
? Robert W. Bonine, La Pine, was convicted of one count of lending a game tag. He was placed on supervised probation for 18 months, ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and fined $1,133. His hunting privileges were also suspended for 24 months. One count of aiding in a game violation – taking deer without a tag – was dismissed.
Small Claims? Credit Services of Oregon v. Abba Katherine Forest. Money judgment awarded to Credit Services of Oregon in the amount of $254.37.
? Credit Services of Oregon v. Tiffany E. Allison and Cloud Allison. Money judgment awarded to Credit Services of Oregon in the amount of $246.86.
? Ray Klein Inc. v. Walter A Sharp. Money judgment awarded to Ray Klein Inc. in the amount of $1,506.88.
? Credit Services of Oregon v. Melissa Nicole Garber and Chad Eric Garber. Money judgment awarded to Credit Services of Oregon in the amount of $458.50.
? Donna R. Carter v. Bill and Cammi Copenhaver. Money judgment awarded to Donna R. Carter in the amount of $6,352.50.
Oregon State Police? About 11:55 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle crash on Highway 395 at milepost 3.5. The driver apparently fell asleep and the southbound vehicle drifted onto the shoulder, down an embankment and rolled over. Erica M. Maltz, 23, of John Day, was cited for failure to maintain lane. She also had not been wearing a seat belt and suffered a concussion during the crash.
? At about 2:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, OSP responded to a non-injury vehicle crash on Highway 26 near Blue Mountain Summit. A Pontiac Grand Am lost control on the snow-covered road, traveled into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a pickup truck that had moved over to the shoulder. The pickup was driven by Michael Lenz of John Day. His wife, their three grandchildren and the driver of the Pontiac, Ashley L. Daniel, were taken to the Austin House, and given a ride by ambulance to John Day. Police transported Michael Lenz back to John Day. Only minor injuries were reported. Oregon Department of Transportation responded to gravel and sand the road.
? OSP responded to a report of a bar fight at El Teulito Mexican Restaurant and Lounge in John Day about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Police said a disturbance between Shane Coombs of John Day and Gerald Roe of Prairie City started over a game of pool. A bouncer broke up the fight.
? About 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, OSP received a report of domestic assault at the Mt. Vernon Motel, with the caller saying the suspect had fled the scene in a pickup with his 20-month-old daughter. Vernon John Lucas, 33, Mt. Vernon, was located at his parents’ residence, where he was arrested for fourth-degree assault and interfering with the making of a report. He was lodged in Grant County Jail. Police investigating the case later arrested Brandy B. Lucas, 32, of Mt. Vernon, who had reported the incident, for fourth-degree felony assault and took her to the jail. The child was placed in the temporary custody of grandparents.
? On Tuesday, Dec. 16, at about 1:10 p.m., OSP investigated a single vehicle rollover crash on Highway 395 north of Silvies. The northbound vehicle lost traction on a curve and spun off the road, striking a rocky side slope before coming to rest on its roof, blocking the northbound lane of traffic. The driver, Jody Russell Lawrence of Hines, was cited for careless driving.
? About 6:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, while patrolling on Dixie Creek Road in Prairie City, OSP saw a Ford truck backing up onto the roadway. It accelerated at a high rate of speed on packed snow. Brian Hueckman, 26, John Day, was cited and released for DUII-alcohol.

Law enforcement: Dispatch received a report of horses out on Highway 26; Prairie City Police responded to a theft call on Johnson Street; Grant County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Long Creek man for interfering with a 911 call; John Day Police responded to a report of phone harassment on North Humbolt Street; Sheriff’s deputies received information on hazardous snowmobiling in Monument; Sheriff’s deputies arrested a John Day man on a Grant County warrant; Monument Fire Department responded to a barn fire on Cupper Creek Road; PC Police issued a citation for speeding; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a school bus that slid off the road in Dayville; JD Police responded to a report of a hit and run at Len’s Drug; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a school bus that slid off Marysville Road; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report in Canyon City of kids sledding on main roads and causing hazards; JD Police responded to a report of a hit and run; Sheriff’s deputies did a welfare check on a man walking on Highway 395 south of Meadowbrook Pass Summit; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of theft on South Humbolt Street; PC Police responded to a report of a disruptive person on 13th Street; PC Police responded to a complaint of a person bitten by a dog; JD Police received a complaint of a dog getting into garbage; Prairie City Fire Department assisted with a motorscooter stuck in the snow; Dispatch responded to a report in Mt. Vernon of a man who cut his fingers off and was being taken to Blue Mountain Hospital; Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a fight at El Teulito; JD Police responded to a report of an accident on Bridge Street.
Ambulance: John Day ambulance was requested for a 90-year-old woman with high blood pressure; JD ambulance was requested for an 18-year-old man having back pain; JD ambulance was requested for an elderly woman with chest pain; JD ambulance was requested for an 85-year-old man with a severe nosebleed; PC and JD ambulances were dispatched for a woman suffering from a possible heart attack.
