Finding skills in 4-H

Local youth can explore the world of home economics and gain skills for life through 4-H, with projects offered in a range of topics.
“We all live in some kind of dwelling; make choices about the clothes we wear and the food we eat,” notes Maxine Day, Extension agent for 4-H. “Home Economics projects are fun, hands-on activities that lead to basic knowledge for living for girls and boys.”
The project topics include child development, clothing and textiles, crocheting, knitting, food and nutrition and more.
The 2-year child development project focuses on skills needed to be a successful babysitter, offering practical skills for young people.
Youth or volunteers who would like to participate in any 4-H programs can contact Grant County’s 4-H office, 575-1911 or visit the office in the basement of the County Courthouse in Canyon City.
