RadiologyBlue Mountain Hospital provides a full service radiology department. X-Ray fluoroscopy, mammography, MRI, ultrasounds, CT scanning, C-arm portable fluoroscope for intra-operative procedures and bone density tests. Most procedures are performed during business hours. The radiology department has three full-time employees and two part-time employees. Andrea Buehrig, who recently joined the radiology team, specializes in women’s imagery. Most services are covered 24 hours a day. The radiology department boasts several new pieces of equipment. The X-Ray fluoroscopy machine was purchased last year. The MRI unit is parked at the hospital permanently. Our best acquisition is the new multi-slice light-speed CT scanner. The machine is capable of performing high-speed, fine-detail scanning. The radiology department uses PACS technology which allows the department to go filmless and also allows access to the speciality doctors in Bend without actually having to go there.

Physical Therapy The Physical Therapy Department at the Blue Mountain Hospital is a busy place! We are here to help patients improve mobility and function. We provide outpatient, inpatient, home health and nursing home care.

In 2006 we acquired a NuStep, a piece of exercise equipment that helps people of all abilities move arms and legs easily from a seated position.

Sarah Russ, PT, is the director of rehabilitiation services and the staff physical therapist. Olivia Cornell is our clerical coordinator. The physical therapy department’s purpose is to provide services for reduction of pain and increase in function to help you or a family member enjoy a more active life, or return to your normal activities after a surgery or injury. Let us know how we can help you.

Home HealthHome health is available to Grant County individuals who require the services of a skilled nurse. Physical therapy is also available if needed. We work on a physician’s order.

HospiceHospice strives to provide compassionate care for the terminally ill and support for their families. We have a caring team consisting of: physicians, registered nurses, licensed therapists, hospice aides, social workers, pharmacists, chaplains and volunteers. Our team works to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones. It is our desire to companion patients and their families as they encounter the stress and concerns arising from terminal illness. Blue Mountain Hospice hopes to be a refuge along this often difficult journey. We offer support designed to nurture your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Call 541-575-1648.

Respiratory TherapyThe respiratory therapy department has specific duties, but also is part of the health-care team. Our duties include airway management for all traumas, cardiac patients, OB and newborns and all inpatients and outpatients having any respiratory distress.

Our specific duties include:

?Ventilator management

?CPR / code blue

?Bi-PAP ventilation

?Arterial blood gas analysis

?Nebulizer treatments

?Incentive spirometry training

?Pulmonary function testing

Due to the low volume of respiratory patients we have incorporated the cardiac diagnostic testing to our department. These tests include:

?12 lead EKG

?24 hour holter monitoring

?Cardiac stress testing

?Stress echo tests

Bend Memorial Clinic provides echo service weekly.

There are two therapists in the department. We are required to have credentials and be licensed by the State of Oregon and have continuing education each year.

LaboratoryThe laboratory services outpatients, inpatients, nursing home, assisted living, home health and hospice patients. Diagnostic help to the physician is our main function in the areas of hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology, body fluids analysis, and blood bank. Equipment is up to date and includes a Dimension RxL Max Chemistry, Sysmex Coagulation, ABX Pentra Hematology and Fingerstick protime machine. In 2008, the lab performed 37,500 billable tests. Full-time techs include Maryann Blem, lab manager, Larry Carr and Rob Durkee. Full-time phlebotomist is Katie Hensley. Skylar Rickabaugh and Diane Higbie are casual techs.
