JOHN DAY – Local surveying company Bagett, Griffith and Blackman has a new name: Benchmark Land Surveying.
New owners are at the helm too, although the faces, longtime employees Mike Springer and Jason Hatfield, are familiar ones.
Springer and Hatfield stress that those are about the only changes in the works. The locally owned and operated business will still provide all the same surveying services as before, which include property, topographic and construction surveys, land partitions and subdivision work.
Previous owner and president of the business, Bob Bagett, retired several months ago, allowing Springer and Hatfield the opportunity to step up.
“We want to assure everyone that we’ll provide the same high quality services as always,” Springer said. They also plan to maintain the company’s strong, positive business reputation Bagett had established in the community.
Springer has been with the company for over 10 years and has a bachelor’s degree in land surveying from Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. He and his wife Shannon have two children, 10-year-old Nicholas and 8-year-old Emily.
Hatfield has a bachelor’s degree in forest engineering from Oregon State University in Corvallis. He’s been with the firm for over six years. Both are licensed professional land surveyors.
Springer is also the newly-elected county surveyor, a position that had also been held by Bagett.
Benchmark Land Surveying can be reached at 575-1251, or by cell phone, 620-0676 (Mike) and 620-2176 (Jason). They also have an office in Baker City. For a link to Benchmark’s website, visit (www.benchmarklandsurvey.com).
