Contracting workshopJOHN DAY – A workshop on “The Basics of Government Contracting” is set for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Old West Federal Credit Union in John Day.

Baby sitting classJOHN DAY – The Grant County 4-H/Extension Service is offering a baby sitting class on Friday, April 9, at Keerins Hall on the Grant County Fairgrounds.
The class will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is for youth ages 12-18, and the class limited to 10. The cost is $10; bring a sack lunch. Topics include business arrangements, physical care of children, safety concerns, basic first-aid and activity planning.

Soil and Water meetingJOHN DAY – Everyone is invited to the Grant Soil and Water Conservation District’s 2010 annual meeting and landowner appreciation event at 6 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Trowbridge Pavilion.

Cow Paddy GolfDAYVILLE – The 4th annual Cow Paddy Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, April 10, at the South Fork Golf Course in Dayville.
Among the items being raffled are a 410 shotgun, with more items being accepted.
A barbecue dinner is offered at $10 a person and the golf scramble is $20 a person.

Bazaar at HumboltCANYON CITY – Humbolt Elementary will hold a “Spring Bazaar,” from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 10, in the school cafeteria.

Trap shootSENECA – A trap shoot fund-raiser for the Grant County Food Bank will be held Sunday, April 11, at the Seneca Range.
Practice starts at 9:30 a.m. and the shoot, with 101 clay targets, at 10 a.m. Lunch will be provided at noon.
The cost to shoot at all the events is $20 a person plus two cans of food or $2 extra. Separate events can be shot at $5 each and one can of food.
All proceeds after prizes and expenses will go to the food bank. Bonnie and Boyd Britton are donating added prize monies.
The event is sponsored by Boyd Britton Welding and the Grant County Shooting Sports Club.

‘Aladdin’ on stageDAYVILLE – Everyone is invited to performances of Disney’s “Aladdin” by Dayville School students in two showings at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17, at the Dayville Community Hall.
Admission is free, although donations to benefit the hall’s renovations and expansion are welcome.
