JOHN DAY – Settled in its new location on Main Street for four months, Moon Creek Fine Art is finally throwing itself a party.

Everyone is invited to the grand opening of Grant County’s only art gallery, on Saturday, April 24.

Owner Jeannie Swayne said that the day-long celebration and open house will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. by the Grant County Chamber of Commerce. Coffee and pastries will be served.

An artists’ reception, also open to the public, will be held from 5-7 p.m. that evening. Light refreshments will be served.

Local artists featured at the gallery include Mytchell Mead, Hans Magden, Patricia Ross, Cecil Gagnon, Marilyn DeRoy and Jackie Sario. New artists are continually being accepted.

Members of the music group Yarrow will play during the event and will be available for jam sessions with other musicians and to answer questions.

During the grand opening, Swayne herself will be working on a project that will later be up for auction. The proceeds will go toward an art scholarship for Grant County high school graduating art students.

Besides the art gallery, Moon Creek also offers large-scale digital printing and framing services, as well as photo restoration.

The gallery is located at 155 W. Main St., next to the Outpost Restaurant.

Moon Creek Fine Art is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturdays, and closed Wednesdays and Sundays.

For more information or an appointment, call Jeannie Swayne anytime at 541-620-1743.
