Alton R. Rapp, 82, of Prairie City passed away on June 16, 2010, at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Prairie City Cemetery. Pastor Marvin Hatfield will officiate.

He was born on April 18, 1928, in Baker to John and Connie (Mosier) Rapp. After he graduated high school, he joined the Navy and served on the USS New Jersey from 1946-1948.

Mr. Rapp married Jackie Leishman in Baker on Aug. 30, 1957.

He was retired from being a timber faller and sawmill worker. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and all family activities, and he could fix anything. He was known as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Mr. Rapp is survived by his wife, Jackie Rapp of Prairie City; son Carl Rapp of Bend; son Dave Rapp of Grants Pass; son Gary Rapp of Prairie City; three brothers; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
